What Dhaka actually asks of a car
Three things dominate: slow, stop-start traffic; narrow residential lanes and tight parking; and waterlogged streets in the monsoon. Fuel consumption in traffic matters too — but Mitsubishi Motors Bangladesh does not publish a consumption figure for any model, so this guide will not invent one. The figures it does publish — length, turning radius, ground clearance, seating and parking aids — are the ones you can compare with confidence.
Length and turning radius — parking and U-turns
The Outlander Sport is the shortest in the range at 4,390 mm with a 5.2 m turning radius. The Xpander is 4,590 mm and also publishes 5.2 m, which the official page relates to U-turns on city streets and crowded parking. The Eclipse Cross is 4,545 mm and 5.3 m; the Destinator 4,680 mm and 5.4 m. The L200 double cab is 5,220 mm on a 3,000 mm wheelbase — a pick-up that needs a longer parking space; its page does not publish a turning radius.
If your home or office parking is tight, take a tape measure to the space before you visit the sales centre.
Ground clearance — waterlogged roads
Every model publishes a figure: Xpander 220 mm on 17-inch wheels; Destinator 214 mm with its under cover fitted, 244 mm without; Eclipse Cross 180 mm; Outlander Sport 222 mm without under cover (see Outlander Sport dimensions and ground clearance). Two cautions: compare like with like (with or without under cover), and remember that published clearance is not a wading depth — no Mitsubishi Motors Bangladesh page publishes one.
Seats — the 7-seater question in the city
A 7-seater in Dhaka is practical if the third row folds flat when you don’t need it. Both 7-seaters do that: the Xpander publishes 781 L of boot space with the third row up and 1,608 L folded; the Destinator publishes a flexible 7-seat layout but no litre figure. If you never carry more than five, the Eclipse Cross is the 5-seater with the shortest wheelbase in the range (2,670 mm).
Traffic aids — what is actually published
