How to get today’s price for either 7-seater

There are three official routes to a current quotation; all three come from the same Mitsubishi Motors Bangladesh sales team.

1. Call 09666 704 704. The quickest route. Name the model, the variant (for the Xpander) and the colour; the figure you are given applies on the day you ask.
2. Visit a sales centre. Dhaka: 215 Bir Uttam Mir Shawkat Sarak, Tejgaon. Chattogram: Rancon Arcade, 1 Shahid Abdul Halim Road, GEC Crossing. Khulna dealership: Car Imperial, B-27 Majid Sharani, Shonadanga.

Which Mitsubishi models have 7 seats in Bangladesh — and which do not

Of the five models Mitsubishi Motors Bangladesh currently lists, two publish a 7-seat capacity: the Xpander and the Destinator. The Eclipse Cross publishes 5 seats. The L200 pick-up publishes 5 seats in double-cab form (with option codes for 6 or 3 in single-cab form). The Outlander Sport page does not state a seating capacity. If you have searched for other 7-seat Mitsubishi models, they are not part of the current Bangladesh range; the hotline can confirm what is available.

Seating and luggage

Both models seat 7. The difference is in what each page publishes about the space behind the seats.

The official Mitsubishi Xpander page states that the second and third rows fold fully flat, and gives boot volume as 781 litres with the third row up and 1,608 litres with it folded. The official Mitsubishi Destinator page does not publish a boot volume in litres. It describes the interior as a flexible 7-seater with what it calls 52-point storage, a second-row seatback table, wireless charging with a charging port in each row, a panoramic sunroof, multicolour ambient lighting, a digital instrument cluster and a driver’s power seat. The one-line difference: the Xpander publishes a measured luggage figure; the Destinator publishes a longer cabin-equipment list but no litre figure — if boot volume is your deciding number, ask the hotline for the Destinator’s.

Engine and transmission

Both engines are 1,499 cc, 16-valve DOHC MIVEC four-cylinders, but they are not the same engine.

The Xpander’s is naturally aspirated: 77 kW (105 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm at 4,000 rpm, through a 4-speed automatic to the front wheels, with a published maximum speed of 170 km/h and Euro 4 emissions. The Eco variant runs on both octane and LPG from a factory-fitted 40-litre LPG tank.

The Destinator’s is the turbocharged, intercooled 4B40 Gen-2: 120 kW (163 PS) at 5,000 rpm and 250 Nm from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm, through a CVT, 2WD, with a published maximum speed of 180 km/h. It runs on unleaded petrol only and adds five selectable drive modes — Normal, Wet, Gravel, Tarmac and Mud — described on the page as adjusting throttle and stability for each surface. The one-line difference: the Destinator publishes substantially more power and torque and a CVT with drive modes; the Xpander publishes a simpler 4AT and is the only one of the two with an LPG option. Neither page publishes a fuel-consumption figure.

Size, ground clearance and manoeuvrability

The Destinator is the larger vehicle in length (4,680 mm vs 4,590 mm), height (1,780 mm vs 1,750 mm) and wheelbase (2,815 mm vs 2,780 mm), and is heavier (1,500 kg vs 1,252 kg curb). The Xpander’s published width is greater (2,100 mm vs 1,840 mm) — note that the two pages may measure width on different bases (with or without mirrors is not stated), so treat that comparison with care.

Ground clearance: the Xpander publishes 220 mm on 17-inch wheels; the Destinator publishes 214 mm with its under cover fitted and 244 mm without it. Both figures are in the range buyers look for on uneven roads; when comparing, make sure you are reading the Destinator’s under-cover figure, since single-number listings usually omit that condition.

Turning radius: 5.2 m for the Xpander, 5.4 m for the Destinator. The Xpander page relates its figure to U-turns on city streets and tight parking.

The one-line difference: the Destinator is bigger and heavier with larger wheels and a full-size spare; the Xpander turns tighter and publishes slightly higher clearance on its standard condition.

Safety and driver assistance as published

The Xpander page lists the RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body, dual front SRS airbags and an impact-absorbing front-end structure for pedestrian protection.

The Destinator page lists front and rear parking sensors, Active Yaw Control (adjusting drive force between the front wheels for cornering stability), Blind Spot Warning with side-mirror indicators and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, on a reinforced monocoque body with high-tensile steel panels. It does not publish an airbag count.

The one-line difference: the Destinator publishes electronic driver-assistance features the Xpander page does not list; the Xpander page publishes its airbag configuration, which the Destinator page does not. Confirm the full safety specification of either with the hotline before you decide.

Variants, colours and where each is made

The Xpander is sold in four variants — Classic, Premium, Sport and Eco (LPG) — and four colours, and the official page states it is made in Bangladesh. The Destinator is published as one specification (model code GT2WXTPGRV1) in six colours; its page does not state where it is assembled.
